Creating Powerful Change

An affirmation is a better-feeling thought designed to replace a limiting belief that is holding you back in your life. Repetition of a better-feeling thought can create a powerful change.

And curiously, the repetition of an affirmation is not meant to change your conscious mind. Your conscious mind is probably an obstacle to repeating your affirmations. After repeating an affirmation a few times, your conscious mind will likely get bored, and you will wish you are doing something new.

Yet, the more you think, speak or write an affirmation, the more it will sink deeper into your subconscious mind. Persistence is everything when it comes to changing entrenched belief patterns.

Your subconscious mind is much harder to change than your conscious mind because it stores your long-term memory, and it tenaciously holds onto old emotional hurt as part of its protection mechanism.

Knowing this, can you imagine how long you have been affirming painful belief patterns from childhood? Your subconscious mind operates with immaturely formed emotional associations, and unquestioned associations need your logical adult mind to create the change.

Persistent repetition is a great way to embed uplifting ideas into your subconscious mind. So, while your conscious mind might be bored with repeating your affirmations, they're likely just beginning to sink into your subconscious mind.

How You Know Your Affirmations are Working

1. You Feel Lighter. You notice that your mood feels lighter and more hopeful.
2. Less Negative Self-Talk. You notice your negative self-talk is being countered by new better-feeling thoughts.
3. More Confidence. You notice an improvement in confidence around the subject of your affirmation.
4. Your Affirmation Just Arises. You notice your affirmation spontaneously "appearing" in your mind, replacing a limiting thought without your conscious effort.
